Mrs. Virginia J. Summers, 92, of Boonsboro, formerly of Leonardtown, MD, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Sunrise Assisted Living. She was the loving wife of the late Edwin Byrd Summers.
Born June 21, 1922 in Wilkes Barre, PA, she was the daughter of the late Nelle (Duzenbery) and Glenn Oppy.
Virginia was a mother and housekeeper extraordinaire, who loved spending time with her family. She was always a cheerful and optimistic person.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Thompson and Joseph Superka of Boonsboro; her son, Robert Edwin Summers of Florida; four grandchildren, Michael Carl Summers, Jessica Sara Frank, Michael Andrew Thompson, and Daniel Christopher Thompson; a great-grandson, River; a sister-in-law, Jean Summers; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Bannigan and husband, Calvin.
Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick with Rev. Tim May officiating.
Interment will follow in Parklawn Cemetery at 12 p.m.
