Mrs. Virginia C. "Ginny" McKnight, 90, of Walkersville and formerly of the Yellow Springs area, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehab Center. She was the wife of the late Howard "Mick" McKnight, who predeceased her in 1986.
Born April 6, 1923 in Richmond, Va., she was the daughter of the late Merrill and Catherine Moessinger.
In younger years, Ginny was employed as a computer aide at Ft. Detrick. She was an active volunteer with Citizens Nursing Home and Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church and was active with the Yellow Springs Lion's Club.
Ginny was an avid knitter; collector of stamps and coins; and a pen pal since the age of 13.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Draper and husband, Vaughn, of Houston, Texas; Nancy Cornell of Walkersville; and Linda Stough and husband, Ed, of Baltimore; grandchildren, Rhonda, Traci, Jennifer and Tim; 10 great-grandchildren; and three nieces, Pat Haag, Charlotte Sowers, and Kaye Berman and their families.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sons-in-law, Hartwood Cornell and Sam Knight; and her sister, Anna Mae King and husband, Billy.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, where funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Dr. Ken Walker.
Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
