Mrs. Virginia DeWitt, died on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007. She was born Virginia DeAmicis, January 5, 1929 to the late Anthony and Miriam {Barnes} DeAmicis.
She was raised in Philadelphia, was a long-time resident of the state of Maryland. She lived for 35 years in the Wheaton area until moving to Frederick in 2004.
Virginia was married to Clement F. DeWitt, Sr. Retired U.S.N.} in 1951 until his death in 1995. During these four-plus decades, she called 12 cities, located in seven states and two Countries, home. As a homemaker and Navy wife, Virginia made numerous friends in Long Beach, CA, Norfolk, VA, Cape Canaveral, FL, Pittsfield, MA, Rota, Spain and several other places.
Her interests included love of opera, all things Italian, and participation in Armed Guard Reunions. Virginia's family was her focus.
Virginia is survived by two son; Clement F. DeWitt, Jr. And wife Linda of Shepherdstown, WV, Gary M. DeWitt and wife Beverly of Monrovia, her granddaughter Cara M. DeWitt with whom she had a special relationship; one sister, Nancy Kelly of Glenolden, PA. And numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by a grandson John Knight, a sister Florence Stuardi, four brothers; Anthony, Henry, Norman and Joseph DeAmicis.
Services: Services for Virginia will be private. She will join her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.
