Virginia Laurene "Jenny" Brown Rogers

Virginia Laurene “Jenny” Brown Rogers, 89, of Emmitsburg, MD passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Menno Haven Rehab Center in Chambersburg, PA.

Born on January 25, 1936 in Garfield, MD, she was the daughter of the late Morris and Hilda Smith Brown. She was the wife of the late Clarence A. “Pete” Rogers, who predeceased her in 1992.

Virginia was a homemaker and a member of Mount Bethel UMC in Foxville. She was also a life member of the Thurmont AMVETS Post #7 and the Blue Ridge Sportsmen’s Association.

She enjoyed making braided rugs for friends and family as well as showing off her photo albums. She also enjoyed sharing stories of the cross-country trip she took with her sister, attending local carnivals, and playing Bingo with family. Virginia spent many years babysitting her grandchildren, many times with at least seven children at her house every day.

Surviving Virginia are daughters Deborah Stely, Roxann Welch and husband Harry, Penny Long and husband Robert, and Cathy Dove; brother Ray G. Brown, Sr.; grandchildren Carla Stely, Jessica Stely, Melissa (Welch) Scheetz, Cynthia (Welch) Chambers, Nicole Welch, H. Matthew Welch, Robert Long IV, Sandra (Long) DeBerry, Daniel Rogers, and Raymond Dove; 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by siblings Irene Stotler, Donald Brown, and Leon Brown and by grandson Jason Welch.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 28, 2025, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main St., Thurmont, MD, 21788.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
