Virgil Washington Earp

Virgil Washington Earp, 74, of Thurmont went to be with his blessed Savior on August 23, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Glenda L. (Fogle) Earp.
 
Born on January 27, 1948, in Olney, Maryland, he was the son of James Franklin Earp and Stella May (Clark) Earp. He was a student of Frederick High School before serving honorably in the United States Army during Vietnam. He then worked for the State Highway Administration and eventually retired from MNCPPC, spending most of his years in construction as a senior mason. Virgil was an active and devoted member of the Frederick Church of the Brethren. He enjoyed taking cruises and traveling with his wife and family; and always enjoyed taking time to help others.
 
In addition to his wife Glenda of 52 years, he is survived by his daughters, Stella Earp-Pennington and husband Curtis, Dianna Fisher and husband Kirk, and Brenda Dodson and husband Todd; grandchildren, Michael Pennington, Christina Snyder and her husband Joshua, Brian Pennington, Julia Fisher, Sarah Fisher, Grace Fisher, Faith Fisher, Isabella Fisher, Isaac Dodson and Samuel Dodson. He is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy Earp, Butch Earp and wife LuAnn, Mary Ann Shankle, Viola “Vi” Williams and husband Drew, Ruth Earp, and Barbara Flohr and husband Merle; mother-in-law, Catherine Louise Fogle-Barry; his siblings-in-law, Carolyn Fogle, James Fogle and wife Sue, and Austin Fogle and wife Janet; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins,  and Jenny Bartgis who was like a sister to him.
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Alice Peomroy and her husband Johnny, brother-in-laws Robert Shankle and Alvin Fogle.
 
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 29 at the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick, MD 21701 from 10-11a.m. The celebration of Virgil's life’s journey will begin at 11a.m. The interment will be private; however, the family invites guests to enjoy refreshments and fellowship in the Fellowship Hall until they return to the church .
 
In honor of Virgil, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org/donate or by mail 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or to the Frederick Church of the Brethren at the above address.
