Mr. Victor Morris Kelly, Sr., 90, of Rocky Ridge, Maryland, passed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of late Kathryn Emma Shockey Kelly.
Born July 22, 1921 in Emmitsburg, MD, he was the son of the late Luther “Dude” and Lucy Bell Grimes Kelly.
Mr. Kelly served his country in the U.S. Army, during WWII, where he was a medic for the 157th Field Hospital and also was 1st baker with a General Hospital. He was a graduate of the Army School for Bakers and Cooks. After returning from the military he owned and operated Greene’s Bake Shop, on Main Street, in Emmitsburg. Victor was of Methodist Faith. He enjoyed traveling, with his wife, in their motor home in earlier years and later they enjoyed spending their Winters in Florida.
He is survived by five children Barbara Ann Zentz and husband Morris of Conway, SC, Victor M. Kelly, Jr. of Rocky Ridge, Brenda J. Roberts and husband Larry, Sr., of Rocky Ridge, Bonnie J. Yingling and husband Doug of Emmitsburg and Roger L. Kelly and wife Lynette of Rocky Ridge, thirteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, and his aunt Betty Kelly of Taneytown. He was preceded in death by a grandson Timmy Kelly and his uncle Ralph Kelly.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont on Thursday, June 7, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, June 8, from Weller United Methodist Church, 101 N. Altamont Ave., Thurmont, with Rev. Richard Broome officiating.
Interment will follow at Weller United Methodist Church Cemetery.
