Mr. Vernon L. Ike Eytchison, 82, of Frederick, MD, formerly of both Silver Spring and Bethesda, died on Monday, April 23, 2007, at Homewood at Crumland Farms, Frederick.
He was the husband of the late Jean Hudson Eytchison who died in January of 2006.
Born on October 30, 1924, in Hord, IL, he was the son of the late Victor Oval and Daphne Mae Kesterson Eytchison. He was a project manager for Maurice Electric Supply Co. in Washington, DC, retiring in the late 1980's after 30 years service.
Mr. Eytchison served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII and was a member of the Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. A life long athlete, Ike was an avid softball player, playing in various leagues into his 80's. Ike was a nationally recognized judge in Synchronized Swimming.
Surviving are a son, Joe Eytchison and wife Donna of Laurel, MD; a daughter, Terry Loeffler and husband Tom of Lakewood, CO; 7 grandchildren: Mary Jardine, Christine Browning, T.J. Loeffler, Tim Loeffler, Carrie Eytchison, Becky Paugh and Lauren Eytchison; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Rosetta Adams of Hord, IL.
Ike was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lee Browning and a brother, John Paul Eytchison.

Services: A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, April 28, in the Chapel at Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7404 Willow Rd., Frederick with Rev. Beverly Stang officiating.
