Velta Kitchen

Velta "Bea" Kitchen, 98, of Keedysville, Maryland, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at her home.
Born on February 28, 1920 in Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Charley and Lucella (Pearl) Kitchen. Bea grew up in Missouri with her late sister, Cleo (Kitchen) Kelly and followed her to Washington D.C. in the early 1940's. She worked as an Administrative Assistant with the Federal Government for the Securities and Exchange Commission for more than 30 years until her retirement. She was dedicated to her family and never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Bea enjoyed traveling, theatre and was an avid reader. In 2000, she moved to live with her sister in Keedysville.
Bea is survived by her niece and nephews, Robert S. Kelly and wife Joanna, Charles P. Kelly and wife Rhonda, James F. Kelly Jr. and wife Anita and Margaret Orlando and husband Osman; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews and her great-great nieces and great-great nephews; and her special cousin, Marjorie Bailey.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, MD. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at 1 pm on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD.
