Velma E. (Violet) Reeder Rowland, 90, of Boonsboro, Maryland, passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Fahrney - Keedy Memorial Home.
Born on April 8, 1927 in Locust Grove, MD, she was the daughter of the late Harlen and Edith (Palmer) Violet. Velma worked at Reisner’s Products for 20 years, prior to her retirement. Velma enjoyed gardening and raising iris’s and working on crossword puzzles. She enjoyed crocheting and creating afghans. She was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church in Waynesboro, PA.
Velma is survived by her daughter, Velesa E. Stevens and husband Richard “Rick”; her grandchildren, Rickelle L. Abbott and husband Chris, and Ryan P. Stevens and wife Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Landen P. Stevens, Kalee I. Stevens and Grey C. Abbott; and nieces and nephews.
Velma was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester E. Reeder, whom passed away in 1986. She was also preceded by her second husband, Herbert E. Rowland, whom passed away in 2013. Her grandson, Richard Lester Stevens and her four siblings.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 1pm at Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, 20214 North Locust Grove Road, Rohrersville, MD 21779.
Flowers may be sent to the funeral home.
