Velma Frantz

Velma Frantz of Mt. Airy, Maryland, passed away peacefully at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the age of 85.

She was surrounded by her 5 wonderful children: Anna and husband Bill, Kathy and husband John, Michael, Andrew, and Joan and husband Doyle. She was loved and will be missed by all of her 9 amazing grandchildren: Diane and husband Ron, Laura and husband Branch, Marie, David and wife Kelly, Joseph and wife Taryn, Michelle and husband Steve, Jennifer and husband Danny, Christopher and wife Nina, and Jacob. She will also be missed by her 9 adorable great grandchildren: Eli, Noah, Evan, Ryder, Hayden, Skylar, Anicca, Emory and Abigail.

Velma was married 50 years to the late Donald A. Frantz, who was her high school “sweetheart”. She loved being surrounded by her family and children. She had an amazing smile and laugh that made everyone feel welcomed. Her favorite passion was flower arranging. In fact, over the years she was involved in decorating for Holy Redeemer Church in College Park as well as helping out at St. Michaels. She enjoyed being with all her friends at the Mt. Airy Senior Center.

The family will receive visitors and friends from 5 – 8PM on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mt. Airy.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017, beginning at 10:00AM at St. Michaels Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michaels Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. A luncheon will be held at St Michaels following the mass.

The interment will be at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, Maryland. Anyone planning to join the family at the cemetery, please arrive by 2:00PM.
