Valerie J. Stewart, 54, of Walkersville, MD, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a long courageous battle with breast cancer, October 2, 2015.  Born on July 2, 1961 in Frederick, MD to the late Natalie Morris and to Dwight Morris and Mary Kennedy of Clearville, PA.  She is survived by her beloved children Michael Stewart and Cara Stewart of Frederick and husband Calvin Stewart of Plano, Texas.

She was a 1979 graduate of Walkersville High School and a Towson University graduate with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She was an elementary teacher for FCPS for 10 years and after moving to Texas, taught an additional 11 years for the Allen School District.  She enjoyed spending time with her children and attending their various activities.  Reading, cooking and going to the movies were a favorite past time.

She is also survived by her sisters Vanessa and Dana Garst of Keymar, MD and Bethany and Chris Churco of Walkersville. MD; her brothers Brett and Amy Morris of Summit Point, WVA and Kendall and Jami Morris of Hagerstown, MD; brother-in-law LeVar Stewart of Baltimore, MD and loving mother-in-law JoAnn Stewart of Baltimore, MD along with many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.  She will also be remembered by her many close, special friends.

Those attending the visitation or celebration of life services, per Valerie's wishes, please dress in casual attire and in something pink if you have it.  Family will receive friends for the visitation from 6-8 pm Monday, October 5th at Stauffer Funeral Home in Walkersville.  A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, October 6th at Walkersville United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Valerie' name, can be made to the Hospice of Frederick County, Patty Pollatos Fund, or the Hurwitz Breast Cancer Fund.
