Mrs. Ursula V. Stewart, 85, a lifelong resident of Ijamsville, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Percy Stewart.
Born November 13, 1928 in Ijamsville, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Marcella Snowden Thompson.
Ursula enjoyed reading and watching Western movies. She loved baseball and was an avid Orioles fan.
She is survived by her son, William Stewart of Ijamsville; two daughters, Sheila Thompson Simms and husband, Charles, of Frederick, and Dorothy Stewart of Ijamsville; two sisters, Mary Carter Lyles and husband, Bishop Merle Lyles, of Ijamsville and Dorothy (Girlie) Carter Holland, also of Ijamsville; one brother-in-law, Roland Dorsey; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her devoted step-father, Herman Carter, Sr.; two sons, Donald and Ronald Stewart; six brothers, William, John, Merle and Elmer Thompson, and Herman and George Carter; and one sister, Vernice Dorsey.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Services will begin at noon with the Rev. Jerry Price officiating.
Interment will follow in Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery.
