Ulysses Luther Fisher Jr.

Ulysses "Sonny" Luther Fisher, Jr., 84, of Frederick, Maryland, passed from this life on Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Kline Hospice in Mount Airy, MD

Born on July 5, 1940, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Ulysses L. Fisher Sr. and Annie M. (Ropp) Fisher.

He served as an Airman Second Class with the Air National Guard / Air Force Reserve. Sonny worked as a utility inspector for Frederick County Government, retiring after 32 years of service. He was a former Board Member and longtime Member of the Pen Mar Historical Recovery Association.

Sonny was an avid metal detecting enthusiast and loved to recover pieces of history lost long ago. He also loved classic cars and attending local car shows. An outdoorsman by nature, you could find him outside tending to his extensive landscaping or working on cars or small engines in his shed. Sonny and Pat also loved cruising with their friends and did so as often as possible. After retirement, he remained very active. Always on the go, he would meet his friends at local diners for breakfast or share stories over lunch at the Redmans. He was always there for his family and friends in times of need. His love for his wife and children was unmatched. That love was also extended to his many canine companions over the years. To say that he will be missed doesn't begin to cover the loss we have all felt. There will always be a place inside of us that we will have to fill with the memories and our firm belief that he is watching over us from a better place. We all know that he will be waiting for all of us with open arms when we meet again.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Mackley Fisher, children, Debra L. Wrinn and husband Larry, Bradley T. Fisher and wife Aimee, grandchildren, Bryan Wrinn, Chase Wrinn, and Maddox Fisher. as well as great grandchildren Owen and Emerson. He is also survived by his sister Clara M.E. Dinterman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Annie Fisher, sisters, Betty, Lydia, and Susie.
