Tyler Sigler

Tyler William Sigler, age 31, went to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of February 12, 2018 after fighting a courageous 15 month long battle with stage 4 esophageal cancer. Tyler is survived by his loving parents, Cherie and Tom Sigler. He will be missed by all of his family and friends, especially his sister Lainey, brother-in-law Michael, and two nephews, Ezra and Cruz. He was the beloved grandson of Mary and Sandy Sandretzky, and Naomi and Thomas Sigler. He also leaves behind many dear aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Tyler was a kind and generous soul from the time he was born in Frederick, Maryland, on September 25, 1986 until the day he passed.  He blessed everyone around him with his incredible optimism, amazing sense of humor, wit, enduring faith, and unforgettable smile.

Tyler’s childhood was joyous; he spent many summers traveling all over the east coast with his sister Lainey and grandparents.  One of Tyler’s greatest joys in life was running, completing 300 miles in 2016.  Tyler was a 2005 graduate of New Life Christian School. Although he took time off after he graduated high school he continued and completed his education at Frederick Community College earning an associates degree in May 2016.

Tyler always loved cars and went to work with his uncle in the car business at the age of 13, before he was allowed a work permit. He continued to work at FSK Automotive until he was 23. However Tyler figured out early in life that he enjoyed lifting others around him up and supporting others in their struggles.  He turned his personal struggles and every adversity he faced into opportunities to encourages others.  Tyler left the car business to work at the Way Station where he was an addictions counselor.  Many of Tyler’s friends have expressed how much he encouraged and blessed them with his willingness to drop what he was doing and support their sobriety, and well-being.

There was never a moment during his battle that Tyler felt sorry for himself.  He began his battle with cancer in November 2016 and fought hard, receiving 832 hours of chemotherapy, countless surgeries including brain surgery, and 10 rounds of full brain radiation. He fought with character and grace and with everything he had.  Throughout his battle, he taught others to live freely while loving and laughing through life’s trials. He will be remembered for that strength.

His determination inspired so many and continues to do so. In the end, the disease never conquered him.

A celebration of Tyler's life will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church, 2212 Jefferson Pike, Knoxville. Officiating will be his father, Pastor Tom Sigler.
