His Journey
Torrey Aundre’ Carr was born at Gorgas Army Hospital in Republic of Panama on September 22, 1987 to Angela Carr-Pittman and Tommy Murphy. Torrey was surrounded by military family his entire life. He spent the first few years in the care and safety of his grandparents, Wayne and Veronica Carr in Newark, Delaware. He passed away suddenly on March 24, 2021.
Torrey along with his family moved to Fort Drum NY where his mother was stationed and met his stepfather, Calvin Pittman Jr and they were soon married and had another child, Keon Pittman. Soon after, Calvin received his orders to next duty station in Hawaii.
Torrey began school at Fort Shafter Elementary, Hawaii. After moving to Maryland Torrey continued his education at Fort Ritchie at Cascade Elementary, continuing to Monocacy Middle at Fort Detrick. Torrey then graduated from Thomas Johnson HS and then on to Lincoln Technical Institute. After school, Torrey had a long relationship with Whitney Henderson.
Torrey then began working at Trick Trucks. After leaving Trick Trucks he worked part time at Cricket Mobile. Serena, his best friend, invited him to come and live in Alaska where he secured a position at AT&T. Torrey jumped at the chance to leave Maryland and live somewhere different. After living in Alaska, Torrey visited Japan to visit Serena and had a great time. Torrey soon found another opportunity to live in Texas so he started work at Wells Fargo in Texas. Torrey finally came back to Frederick to be near family and returned to Merchant Auto/NTB and finally Sprint/T-Mobile.
Torrey grew up in a Baptist home and was curious about his religious beliefs. He started attending church in Frederick.
Torrey enjoyed race cars by adding detail to them such as mufflers, sound systems and other details to his cars. Torrey loved racing and joined a race club. He also loved to travel, talking to the ladies, family especially his brother and recently connected with his younger stepsisters, Tyrocia and Zamora. Torrey also spoke Spanish fluently especially after his return to Frederick. Torrey always talked and joked with his brother Keon about everything. Torrey enjoyed his many friends and kept in touch with many of them through the years.
He is preceded in death by father-Tommy Murphy, grandmother-Mary Stevens, grandmother-Veronica Carr, step-grandfather- Calvin H. Pittman Sr,
Torrey is survived by stepfather, Calvin Pittman, Jr; mother, Angie Pittman; brother, Keon Pittman; niece, Jazlyn Pittman; grandfather, Wayne A. Carr, Sr; grandmother, Louise Pittman; best friend, Serena; aunts; stepsisters, Tyrocia and Zamora; and a host of family and friends.
To our son, who meant the world to us, your contagious smile, laughter and caring for others will never be forgotten. You were an inspiration in our hearts and our lives. Rest easy Torrey, you will always be remembered as you never left. Those hearts you touched will leave a forever long-lasting memory. We love you always and forever. Mom, dad and Keon
