Timothy Jon Heffner (Tim) passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 20th at the age of 52. He had successfully defeated his cancer, with multiple clear screens, however impacts from the aggressive treatment were unforeseen.
Tim was born to Joan Veronica (Homolash) and Donald Wayne Heffner on August 10, 1966, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania. He was a 1984 graduate of Huntingdon Area High School, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Shippensburg University in 1989. Tim played the trumpet in the Shippensburg University Marching band, was on the Rugby Team, and was initiated in to the Zeta Delta Chapter of his fraternity Pi Kappa Phi in December of 1986.
At the time of his death, he was the Mid-East Regional Sales Manager for Diamond Pet Foods, where he had been employed for over 20 years. He was loved and respected by his co-workers and customers all over the country. Tim was an avid Penn State University (PSU) fan, loved college sports, hunting, skiing, outside sports, friends, but above all else, Tim enjoyed spending time and celebrating with his Family.
He is survived by his children, Rachael Lauren Heffner and Austin Nelson Heffner; his parents, Joan (Boots) Heffner and Donny Heffner; his brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Laura Burns-Heffner; his nephew Colin Tyler Burns-Heffner and niece Kaila Nicole Burns-Heffner; Rachael and Austin’s mother, Lisa Nelson Heffner; as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins. He will be mourned by many.
The family will be receiving visitors from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 8 East Ridgeville in Mt. Airy, Maryland. A mass and celebration of Tim’s life will take place at 10:30 am Saturday, October 27, 2018 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michael’s Road in Mt. Airy, Maryland, followed by a gathering in the church hall. A small family burial will take place in his hometown of McConnellstown, Pennsylvania at the Huntingdon Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Raystown Road in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 11:00 am.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers are suggested to support Tim’s daughter’s fundraising for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, in her father’s memory.
