Thurman E. "Sammy" Kefauver, 87, of Keedysville, born Nov. 1 1919 to Ethel and Earl Kefauver of Boonsboro, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Reeders Memorial home after a long illness. Thurman was a graduate of the Class of 1938 from Boonsboro High School. He was a life long mechanic and was a member of The Civilian Corps stationed in Frederick Maryland. During the Second World War he served his country in the 698th Ordinance Heavy Maintenance Company Where he was Honorably Discharged in 1946. He received a Journeyman Automotive Mechanic certificate from The State of Maryland in 1951. His working career included Deeners Garage in Boonsboro, The State of Maryland Department of Corrections, Fairchild Aircraft and he retired from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.
He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille, of 45 years in 1992. He is survived by two children, Patricia Danner and husband Colin and Michael Kefauver and wife Kathy all from Keedysville. Four grandchildren, Troy and Shawn Danner, Bradley and Brittany Kefauver; five great- grandchildren, Destiny, Paulina and Josh Danner, Jordan and Sydnie Kefauver; also by one sister, Patricia Getridge of Boonsboro and brother, Bernard Kefauver of Williamsport. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2 at Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro. The Rev. Daniel L. Fraley will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Keedysville. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
