Mr. Thomas 'Tosh' William Smith, 65, of Buckeystown died Monday, August 20, 2007 at his home. He was the husband for 30 years to Barbara Leaks Smith.
Born on May 9, 1942 in Walkersville, MD he was the son of the late Helen Louise (Butler) and John Henry Smith, Jr. Thomas served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War Era. He was a retired shift foreman from Essroc Cement Company with over 26 years of service.
A life time member of Silver Hill United Methodist Church, Thomas loved to garden, watch sports, and play the daily lottery. He was a member of the Francis Scott Key Post 11, American Legion.
Besides his wife, survivors include his five children, John Thomas Smith and wife Tracy of Hagerstown, Zelda Leaks Campbell of Frederick, Helen Clark and husband Berkley of Baltimore, Ramona Franklin of Charlotte, NC, and Teresa Smith of Baltimore; 16 grandchildren; five brothers and sisters, John H. Smith, III and wife Shirley of Alexandria, VA, Shirley Elizabeth Snowden and Robert Earlston Smith both of Mt. Pleasant, Gordon Ellis Smith of New Jersey and Ava Maria Smith Whittemore of Frederick; three aunts, Clara Butler and Dorothy Butler both of Frederick, and Sara Butler of Louisville, KY; numerous nieces and nephews. He will also be remembered by his devoted friends, Gene Snowden, Patricia Hill Gaither, Donald Bowins, Tyrone Bowins, Robert Bobby Lee, David Sappington, Howard Bailey, Patricia Snowden, Julian and Margaret Convey, Ronald Anderson, Sandy Cooper, Melanie and Bill Stockman, and Gene Angleberger.
He was preceded in death by two brother-in-laws, Russell Snowden and Clabon Whittemore.
Visitation: The family will receive friends on Friday, August 24, 2007 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Md.
Services: Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the Stauffer Funeral Home Chapel, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Md. with Rev. Richard Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
