Thomas C. Black, Sr.

Mr. Thomas C. Black, Sr., 78 of Frederick, MD., died Monday, December 15, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of the late Betty J. Brandenburg Black.

Born October 22, 1930 in Gordo, Alabama, he was the son of Cordie Dillard Black of Montana and the late Walter T. Black.

Mr. Black served his Country in the U. S. Navy and after leaving the Navy worked for many years in the Medical Field. He was a member of the Reformed United Church of Christ, Mt. Pleasant Ruitan, American Legion Post #282, AMVETS Post #7 and the Mt. Airy VFW Post #10076. He was a volunteer for many years with the Parkinson's Assoc. in Mount Pleasant. He loved to play golf, bake, was an avid Redskin fan, and enjoyed spending time with good friends at the Woodsboro American Legion.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his children Sandy Arsola and husband Mike of Minnesota, Sharon Dicken of Cumberland, MD, Thomas C. Black, Jr. and wife Dawn of Salisbury, MD and Michael Black of Frederick, Seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and a sister Sara Glascock of Montana.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Thursday, December 18, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m

Services: Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 19, at 1:00 p.m.
By special request, of Mr. Black, his grandsons Pastor Frank Dicken and Pastor Brian Dicken will officiate.
Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
