Thomas “Buddy” Epps Large, 62, of Blacksburg, VA, passed unexpectedly from this life on Friday, January 25, 2019, at the home of his beloved in-laws.
Born on July 24, 1956, in Richmond, VA, he was the son of William Large, Sr. and Joyce (Spiers) Large Ford.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Schimmel Large and their devoted children, Victoria, Alexandra and Nickolas; grandchildren, Aliyah and Jaxson; siblings, William Eugene Large, Jr., James (Ricky) Richard Large, Robert Jerald (Jerry) Large, Sandra Ford Reed and Catherine Ford.
Tom proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam Era. He had a life career as a Biomedical Technician. An avid lover of guns, hunting, and fishing, Tom enjoyed the outdoors and practicing his shot at the shooting range. When he wasn't involved at the church, Tom enjoyed acting, reading, and watching movies. He could often be found talking to his children and playing with his grandchildren. He was a devoted family man who always put others before himself.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD.
A celebration of Tom’s life journey will take place at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Stauffer Funeral Homes, 1621 Opossumtown Pike in Frederick, MD. Military honors and interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, VA. at 12:00 noon.
