Mr. Thomas Edward Wiles, 76, of New Market, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Doris V. Wiles.

Born March 4, 1935, in Frederick, he was a son of the late George Arthur and Margaret Waltz Wiles.

A graduate of Frederick High School, Class of 1953, he served in the United States Army Reserves from 1957 through 1960. He was employed at Wickes Lumber Company for 30 years then at Mount Airy Home Center, retiring from Bluelinx in Frederick following 10 years of service. He was a member of Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, Monrovia, Amvets, the American Legion Post, Woodsboro, and the Big Oak Lodge in Myersville. He loved going camping with his family and 4-wheeling with his nephews.

Surviving are three children, Darlene Wiles Burall and husband, Scott, of New Market, Kay Wiles Main and husband Richard of Frederick, and Randy T. Wiles of Frederick; one sister, Barbara Summers and husband Oscar of Thurmont; six brothers, Alfred Wiles of Myersville; Maurice Wiles and wife Donna of Mount Airy; Robert Wiles and wife Carolyn of Emmitsburg; Wayne Wiles of Thurmont; David Wiles and wife Shirley of New Windsor and Bruce Wiles and wife Nancy of Thurmont; six grandchildren, Casey Burall Nemtuda and husband Adam, of Rock Hill, SC; Brittany Burall Giles and husband Jerry, of New Market; Andrew Thomas Main, Amanda Main, Randi Wiles and Mason Thomas Wiles, all of Frederick; two great-grandchildren, Kelsey Marie Giles of New Market and Donovan Scott Nemtuda of Rock Hill, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will received friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 14, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Charles Beekley will officiate. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Bearers will be Rick Murphy, grandsons Andrew Main and Jerry Giles, and nephews Brian Wiles, James Wiles, Raymond Wiles, Darryl Saxton and Jeff Sanbower.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick County Pomona Grange Burall Brothers Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Nicole Myers, Pomona Grange Secretary, 77 Cannon Lane, Gettysburg, PA, 17325, or to Hospice of Frederick County.
