Thomas Owings Warfield, IV, passed away peacefully at his home in Mount Airy, Maryland on August 17th, 2023. He was born on January 10th, 1931 to his parents Thomas Owings Warfield, III and Dorothy Isobel Kolb Warfield in Woodbine, Maryland.
Thomas was a dedicated engineer at a Dairy Plant throughout his career. He took immense pride in his work and always displayed a strong work ethic. Thomas's commitment and attention to detail were truly commendable.
Outside of work, Thomas was known as a very humble and quiet man who lived for his family. Being an only child himself, he had a deep appreciation for the importance of family connections. Thomas treasured every moment spent with his wife of 74 years, Margaret Condon Warfield. Their love story was filled with cherished memories from the early days of their courtship to the joys of building a life together.
One particular memory that held a special place in Margaret's heart was when they were first dating and found themselves sitting on the bleachers watching the Washington Senators play. The game went into extra innings lasting past Margaret's curfew - an incident that provided some humor throughout their lives together.
In addition to being a loving husband and father, Thomas found joy in various hobbies and interests. He was an active member of his church community. His love for gardening allowed him to appreciate nature's beauty while providing solace from everyday tasks. Furthermore, Thomas thoroughly enjoyed both watching and attending baseball and football games; he delighted in sharing these experiences with loved ones.
Thomas Owings Warfield, IV leaves behind not only beautiful memories but also an impressive list of accomplishments. Among them, he built the Sunday School room at his church singlehandedly, a testament to his remarkable dedication and skills. Additionally, Thomas received his Pilgrim Degree at the Moose, a notable achievement that brought him great satisfaction.
Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Owings Warfield, III and Dorothy Isobel Kolb Warfield, as well as his son, Ashley Lee Warfield Sr., granddaughter, Brittany Warfield, and grandson, Thomas O. Warfield, VI. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he touched.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Condon Warfield; sons, Thomas O. Warfield V and his wife, Elizabeth, David Clark Warfield and Michael Barnes Warfield and his wife, Jacquelyn; daughter, Sharon Anne Stratton; grandchildren, Lara Christine Monroe and husband, Alistair; Ashley Lee Warfield Jr., Alisha Lynn Warfield; great-grandchildren, Hannah Elizabeth Monroe and Corrine Margaret Monroe. Thomas also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will forever cherish their memories with him.
To honor Thomas Owings Warfield, IV, visitation services will be held at Stauffer Funeral Home, 8 East Ridgeville Blvd, Mount Airy, MD 21771 on August 22nd, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on August 23rd, 2023 at St. James Episcopal Church, 1307 N Main Street, Mount Airy, MD 21771 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
