Thomas "Tom" Marcelino was a caring husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world suddenly on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at age 79.
He was born on September 28, 1941, and grew up in Rockville, MD. After high school he joined the Air Force and was stationed in Rapid City, South Dakota, where he met his life love, his wife Cheryl Marcelino. They wed within a year and moved to Rockville, MD. He then attended college and became a physicist, spending his career designing military defense systems. In 1972, they bought a house in Ijamsville, where he lived the remainder of his life. Tom was an avid bowler, fisherman, golfer, skier and loved spending time working in his yard and tending to his plants. He had a passion for knowledge, and sharing it with others. He enjoyed puzzles and strategy games, and played them with his family and many friends. Tom was always good for a joke and a laugh, with an infectious and genuine smile.
He loved his family and friends dearly, and dedicated his life to raising his family. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cheryl, and their daughters Michelle and Melanie, and his grandson Chayton. As well as his daughter Valerie, and her children and grandchildren.
Tom will be honored at Stauffer Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, MD. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, June 22, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 23, at 11am, and immediately following the burial will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Mt. Airy.
