Thomas Ludy

Thomas Markwood Ludy, 88, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on November 23, 2013 at NMS Healthcare of Hagerstown.

He was born on November 21, 1925 in Gapland, Maryland to Lloyd Cyrus and Icie Ellen (Smith) Ludy.

He worked for Bowers Lumber Company for 13 years and Lowes Home Improvement until his retirement in 1991. He also was a farmer on the family farm until it was sold in 1983.

He was a lifetime member of St Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Myersville, Maryland, where he served as a member of the church council.

Thomas was a 4-H leader for 20 years in Myersville. He was a member of the Tractor Club of Frederick Co. He was an avid bowler and bowled for 40 years on the Monday night Church League and Friday night Industrial League at Arcade Lanes in Frederick, Maryland.

Thomas is survived by his brother, Clarence Ludy and wife Joyce of Dayton, Maryland; six sisters, Ruth Rinehart of Greencastle, Pennsylvania, Naomi Nole of Baltimore, Maryland, Martha Flook and husband Leon of Myersville, Mary Youker of Hagerstown, Rachel Kershner of Myersville, Esther Barton and husband Lawrence of Hagerstown; sister-in-law, Rubye Ludy of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania; and by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cyrus and Paul Ludy.

A funeral ceremony will be held at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 Main Street, Myersville, Maryland at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 30, 2013. Rev. David Howell officiate. Interment will follow at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery. A reception will be held at the church following the interment.

Family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2013 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland .
