Thomas Litras

Mr. Thomas S. Litras of Frederick, MD, died on Monday, January 26, 2015 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born August 7, 1929 in Oshkosh, WI, he was the son of the late Angel and Leone Litras. Mr. Litras is survived by his wife, Harriet, of 64 years; two sons, Christopher and his wife, Teri; Jonathan and his fiancée, Debbie; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law and their families. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Konstantin and George and a great-granddaughter.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-48 during the Korean Occupation following the end of hostilities. Mr. Litras graduated from the University of Wisconsin. He was employed by U.S. Steel for 36 years. At his retirement, he was General Manager - Personnel. After moving to Frederick in 1987, he established Tom Litras Consultants specializing in corporate resizing and business strategies, both nationally and internationally. He then became vice president and chief operating officer of  Quads, a pension administrator firm located in Frederick.

A long time collector of toy soldiers, Mr. Litras and his wife established "THE TOY SOLDIER & His LADY", an antique business dealing in toy soldiers and Victoriana. Mr. Litras did toy soldier shows throughout the East and in Chicago, IL.

A member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Frederick, Mr. Litras served as a Vestry member and Senior Warden. He also served on various ministry groups at the Church, including Lay Eucharistic Minister and Chalicist. When the Church built a 22,000 sq. ft. addition, he served as project coordinator.

Throughout his career, Mr. Litras was active in civic events in all six cities where he lived while with U.S. Steels' Good Fellowship Club in Pittsburgh. After receiving his Masters Degree in 1979 from St. Francis University (PA), Mr. Litras taught Human Resource Management and Economics classes at several universities in the Pittsburgh area.

Memorial services will be held at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 106 W. Church Street, Frederick, MD at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's name to the Historic Preservation Fund at All Saints' Church.
