A native Washingtonian

Thomas Andrew Lamkin, a native Washingtonian, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born on July 19, 1939 to Estelle Sally and John Wesley Lamkin. He loved his family and is survived by his wife Janet Price Lamkin and five daughters, Debbie Noble, Shelly Easley (Brig), Lisa Williams (David), Lynn Lamkin, and Emily Osborne (James). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren - Matthew, Kaitlin, Kevyn, Sam, Tommy, Jeremiah, Stephanie, Stephen, Sydney, Alexis, Tommy, Jacob, Mike, Jeremiah, and Shania; 18 great-grandchildren; his siblings - Evelyn Wharen, John Lamkin (Luana), Mary Edmonston Riley; as well as nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Linda Price, and brother-in-law Richard Price. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Patricia Patrizzi.

Tom spent his working years in the printing industry, including working for his uncle as well as spending many years at Decatur Press, Inc. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether spending time at the beach (his favorite place), shooting a round of sporting clays, hunting (loved to spend crisp, cool mornings in the fields), fishing, and crabbing. He liked to go on road trips, cook for his family and friends, was a lifelong fan of the Washington Redskins (Commanders) and the Nationals, liked to dabble in drawing (was very creative), was quite comical and quick witted and loved to laugh - he always had a good story or joke to tell.

He served as President to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America as well as being their Corresponding Secretary for many years.

Donations in Tom’s name may be made to the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America (bcciwla.org) or an organization of your choice.

A gathering for family and friends will be held at a later date.
