Thomas Knott, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Elbert Knott, Sr., 82, of Frederick died Friday, August 3, 2012 at Kline Hospice House. He was the husband of the late Margaret E. Knott, who predeceased him on January 17, 2012.

Born January 15, 1930, he was the son of the late Roger Brook and Marie Eleanor Gardiner Knott. Mr. Knott was a self-employed dairy farmer, retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Frederick County Farm Bureau and he attended St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Mr. Knott was an avid gardener, and he enjoyed spending time with his family going fishing and just enjoying time on the family farm.

He is survived by his children, Thomas E. Knott, Jr., and friend, Lynn; Theresa M. Watson and husband, Joseph; David B. Knott and wife, Linda; Stephen F. Knott and wife, Charlotte; James L. Knott; Mary E. Albaugh and husband, Ervin; Mark A. Knott; Karen E. Toms and husband, Michael; and Charles F. Knott. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Joseph Watson, Jr., Beth Myers, Kenneth Knott, Deborah Offutt, Ryan Knott, Chris Knott, Robby Knott, Brandy Odin; Angel, James, Jr., Brenton, and Brianne Knott; Stacey Chronister, Mark Knott, Jr., Margaret Knott, Michael Toms, Jr., Megan Toms, Chad Knott; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, William Knott and wife, Martha, and Paul Knott; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Knott also will be remembered by his brother-in-law, Daniel Geisinger, and sisters-in-law, Joan Knott, Mary Knott of Connecticut and Mary Knott of West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Knott, Marie Geisinger, Raphel Knott,  Stephen Knott, Bernard Knott,  Franklin Knott, Maude Luerseen, Elberta Helwig, Muriel Manger, Roger Knott, James Knott, and Gregory Knott.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, August 6, 2012  at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, with a rosary beginning at 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Deacon John L. Manley.

Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Serving as bearers will be his grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
