Mr. Thomas Kennedy, 77, Thurmont, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Glade Valley Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maureen Kennedy, and his brother Roger Kennedy.
He was born on October 23, 1931 in Long Island, New York, and was the son of the late Thomas and Gertude (Reed) Kennedy. He later lived in Montana and in Washington, D. C. before moving to Thurmont eight years ago.
He was a communicant of the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Thurmont.
He was a graduate of Carroll College, Helena, Montana and of the University of Montana School of Law, Missoula, Montana. He served under the County Attorney of Missoula and later moved to Washington, D. C. where he served in the Department of Defense specializing in labor management. He also was employed by the Veterans Administration and the Department of Justice. An avid students of politics, he had the deep pleasure of being a member of the staff of several subcommittees of the House of Representatives. With the change of administrations in 1980, Tom went into private practice both in D. C. Superior Court and the Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia.
He was honored to serve his country in the United States Army and was stationed at a number of post within the United States and also the Panama Canal Zone.
Mr. Kennedy was formerly a member of the Montana State Society, twice serving as president; the Democratic Club of D. C.; the John Carroll Society; and the National Press Club.

Services:
Friends will be received on Saturday, December 6, from 12:00noon until 2:00pm., at which time there will be a prayer service at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 East Main Street, Thurmont.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to either Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish, 18 Altamont Avenue, Thurmont, MD 21788, or to the Carroll College, 1601 N. Benton, Helena, MT. 59601.
