Thomas Michael Gula, 59, of New Market, Maryland, passed away peacefully from this life at his home on Monday, April 29, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Lynn Gula for 35 years. To friends and family, Thomas was lovingly known as Tom, Papa, Papa G, Dupa, Timbo, and Lover Darlin.
Born on March 3, 1965, in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of Frederick Theodore and Carol Ann (Wilson) Gula, and brother to Jim, John and Bob Gula.
Tom was a graduate of Guilderland High School (go Flying Dutchmen!) and SUNY Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh, NY, where he graduated with his bachelor's degree in history. Tom played soccer in college and was still in close contact with many of his teammates and coach.
Tom was a proud Secret Service agent for 33 years, where he traveled the world and took immense pride in protecting our country. Aside from work, he enjoyed skiing, golfing, hiking, exercising (sometimes multiple times a day), and spending time with his wife, kids, and grandchildren. His other unique interests included superheroes (Thor being his favorite), Civil War history (he participated in live reenactments for several years), misquoting movies, and driving his Jeep on the beach.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three brothers, four children, Heather (Michael) Foster, Theodore (Priscilla) Gula, Joseph (Kendall) Gula, and Michael Gula, and his three beloved grandchildren, Hadley, Harper and Mckinley Foster. He was the proud godfather to Shea Przyweizerski and Natalie Gula. He is preceded in death by his father, Frederick Theodore Gula, mother, Carol Ann Gula, and son, Federick Thomas Gula.
