Thomas F. King

July 7, 1936 — March 18, 2025

Boonsboro

Thomas F. King, 88, of Boonsboro, Maryland passed from this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Somerford Place Assisted Living in Hagerstown. He is now with God and has reunited with his wife, Sue, who preceded him in death in 2020.

Born on July 7, 1936 in Wyoming County, West Virginia, Tom was the son of the late Cleo and Clyde (Turley) Smith.

Tom, for many years, worked at Eastalco Aluminum where he served as an Instrument Technician. While employed at Eastalco, he proudly joined the Steelworkers Union and served as President of his chapter. Outside of work, Tom and his family attended Weverton Baptist Church, now known as Pleasant Valley Baptist. He was a faithful member and was dedicated to the many ministries at his church.

Tom was loved by his friends and family. Anyone that crossed his path knew that Tom was a girl dad, a genuine hillbilly, expert storyteller, amateur gardener, deer hunter, card cheating, book reading, western watching, metal detecting, and biscuit and gravy connoisseur who would give the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. He will be greatly missed.

He is survived by daughters, Robin Boone (Dan) of Frederick, MD, Terry Hamilton (Dale) of Boonsboro, MD, Tammy Mitchell (Bobby) of Columbus, GA, Toni Scott (Terry) of Brunswick, MD, Teri Moffatt of Boonsboro, MD, Tammy Holmes (Carroll) of Boonsboro, MD, Traci Snodderly (Chuck) of Hagerstown, MD, Jeannie King of Boonsboro, MD, Cindy Haigh of Leesburg, FL, Kelly Klein (Walt) of Berlin, MD; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many “adopted” family members. Additionally, he is survived by his sisters and brothers, Wanda Wallace of Rocky Mount, NC, Carol Sue Clum (Ed) of Lancaster, OH, Billy Smith (Diane) of Hurricane, WV, Patsy Dennison (Denny) of St Albans, WV, Barbara Smith of St. Albans, WV, and Peggy Smith of Nitro, WV.

He was preceded in death by brother, Clarence (PeeWee) King; and brother-in-law, Larry Wallace.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 3346 Gapland Road in Rohrersville, Maryland.
