Thomas James Captain, 55, of Mount Airy, MD, passed away on April 10, 2013 in Mount Airy, MD. Tom was born in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 1957. Tom was married to Kirsten Juul Captain on April 30th 1983; they were married 30 years. He graduated from Woodward High School. Tom owned his own business in Mount Airy. Prior to that, he raised his two daughters, managed his farm, and was a licensed Land Surveyor. He enjoyed music and the outdoors. He was also involved in the local Kiwanis organization. Tom is survived by his wife Kirsten Marie, daughters Marisa Catherine and Victoria Caroline, brother Charles Kevin Captain, his wife Brooke and their children Abigail and Dylan, by his Uncle Michael Captain, his Aunt Patricia Danchak and Uncle Ray Danchak, nieces Kristin Reddington and Lauren Captain, mother in law Jane Juul, brothers in law Tom Juul and Hal Juul, sister in law Kathy Juul, and other family and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Margaret Captain, his brother Michael Captain, his sister Patricia Captain, and father-in-law Halvor Juul Jr. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-9 PM at Stauffer Funeral Homes, P.A., 8 East Ridgeville Blvd., Mount Airy, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, 11 AM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 1125 St. Michael’s Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771. Father Rev. Michael J. Ruane will officiate. Burial will be private following Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to American Cancer Society.
