Thomas E. Banfield

Thomas E. Banfield, of New Market, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 28, 2024.  

Born on March 10, 1937, in Colver, PA, he was the son of James Lewis and Rose Kavanagh Banfield. 

Tom attended Ebensburg High School before studying at St. Francis College where he received his masters degree in mathematics. 

He was preceded in death by two sons: his eldest Thomas Jr. and Joseph, and a grandson Wesley Foreman. Tom is survived by Doris, his loving wife of 69 years; children: Kathleen Foreman (Daryl), Barbara Burdine and James Banfield (Kelli); grandchildren: Rose, Alyson (Gamal), Buddy, Kurt (Haley), Chelsea and Bailey; great grandchildren: Kendall and Kamryn.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at St. Michael Catholic Church at Poplar Springs, 1125 St. Michael's Road in Mount Airy, MD, 21771, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00, Father Paul Sparklin will officiate. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or LLS-LTN in his memory.
