Theresa Phillips

Theresa L. (Hutzell) Phillips, 81, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed away from this life on Monday morning, June 9, 2014, at the Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown.

Born on November 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Floyd T. and Hazel M. (Jones) Hutzell, Sr.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Phillips, Sr. on September 13, 2004.

Theresa attended the Boonsboro Schools.

She was a member of Haven Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

In her early working career, Theresa worked for the Dorbee Manufacturing Company in Hagerstown. After many years of service with Dorbee Manufacturing, she stayed at home and raised her children and grandchildren.

Theresa enjoyed crocheting, puzzles, and playing board games.

Theresa is survived by her four daughters, Deborah A. Weaver, Linda C. Robinette, Karen L. Obitts and Theresa's special caregiver and youngest daughter, Lori J. Phillips; two sons, Richard M. Phillips, Jr. and Alan F. Phillips; a sister, Janet Hovermale; and two brothers, Gerald and Monte Hutzell. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Jeffrey Hewitt, James Phillips,Christina Elgin, Stacey Boudreau, Amanda Phillips, Misty Hartle, Scott and Andrew Obitts, and Elizabeth and Brandon Phillips.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Brian E. Robinette; and her brother, Floyd Hutzell, Jr.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland 21713.  Rev. R. Thomas Fralin, Jr. will officiate.  Final resting-place ceremonies will follow at Boonsboro Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the funeral home.
