Mr. Theodore "Ted" Howard Snyder, RPT, 80, long-time piano craftsman and owner of Olde Towne Piano Shop in Mt. Airy, MD, died suddenly on Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
Born May 22, 1933 in Grand Ledge, Michigan, he was the son of the late Rolla and Bessie Snyder.
An accomplished musician, Ted began a long career in piano service beginning in 1963 with his first introduction into the field of piano tuning. After completing a series of rigorous tests given by the Piano Technicians Guild, Ted became a self-employed Registered Piano Technician (RPT) in 1967. Ted's goal was "to provide the finest in any kind or type of piano repair, rebuilding or restoration, treating each instrument with special care."
He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Valdesuso and her husband, Cesar, and their two children, Connor and Ronan, of Arlington, VA; Lynette Godhard and her husband, Michael, and their children, Lucas and Marisa of Laytonsville, MD; his companion, Esther McCormack, and her two children, Robb McCormack and Michelle Shall; and his nephew, James Reeder of Grand Ledge, MI.
Services will be held at a later date.
