Mrs. Thelma Lafferty, 85 of Frederick, Maryland formerly of Bedford, Pennsylvania died on Thursday, November 11, 2010. She was the wife of the late Ray S. Lafferty who passed away in 2006.
Born May 2, 1925 in Fairhope, PA she was the daughter of the late George and Violet Poorbaugh.
She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Bedford, PA. She was an avid quilter and was a member of the PA Crafters Guild.
Thelma enjoyed playing cards, shopping and in her y0unger years she loved to square dance. She was also a member of the Walkersville Senior Center.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie Michael of Frederick, a son, Roger Lafferty and wife Janet Martin of Unionville, MD, a brother, George Poorbaugh Jr., brother-in-law, Gordon Ries, five grandchildren, Laura Beall and husband David, Kelli Jenkins and husband Bill, Heather Rock, Heidi Combs and husband Greg and Christina Smith and husband Leroy, eight great grandchildren, Steffanie Michael, Alexis Curbow, Miriah Trail, Tyler Hanes, Chloe Hanes, Ava Jenkins, Olivia Jenkins and Wyatt Smith. She will alos be remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rickey Michael, a granddaughter, Barbara Lafferty, a brother, Ray Poorbaugh and a sister, Ada Ries.
The family will receive friends at the Deaner Funeral Home, 705 main Street, Berlin, PA on Sunday, November 14
th
from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 15
th
at 10:00AM.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Meyersdale, PA.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel Lutheran Church, Music Department, 10601 Daysville Road, Walkersville, MD 21762.
