Thelma Jones

Thelma Delilah (Fink) Jones, 83, of Hagerstown, Maryland, passed from this life on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Julie Manor Health Care Center in Hagerstown.

Born on April 22, 1930 in Derwood, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin and Ressie Delilah (Shipe) Fink. Her husband, Isaiah "Ike" Henry Jones, preceded her in death on April 29, 1990.

Thelma attended Gaithersburg High School.

She was a dedicated member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren.

Thelma is survived by two children, Michael R. Jones and wife Ola, and Donna I. Lightner, all of Hagerstown; daughter-in-law, Tina Jones of Frederick, Maryland; and four grandchildren, Waylon Harris of Norfolk, Virginia, Brent Jones of Hagerstown, A. Rhianon Lightner of Hagerstown, and Jesse Lightner of Hagerstown. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Patrick Allen Jones and Robert Edgar Jones; and two sisters, Martha Presley and Ethel Embry.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren, 1911 Rohrersville Road, Brownsville, Maryland. Rev. Alan M. Smith will officiate. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at Brownsville Heights Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike, Boonsboro, Maryland, as well as one hour prior to the service at church.
