Mrs. Thelma Pauline Cecil, 91, of Brunswick, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Northampton Manor Nursing Home. She was the wife of William D. Cecil who predeceased her in February 1973.
She was born on July 31, 1921 in Lovettsville, VA, she was the daughter of the late Myrland and Dorothea Frye.
Thelma became a member of the New York Hill Methodist Church in 1953 which is now the New Hope United Methodist church in Brunswick. She graduated from Lovettsville High School in 1939. She was a homemaker part of her life and then worked at Brunswick High School cafeteria a short time and then many years at the Dan Dee Restaurant. Thelma loved spending time with family and friends and cooking.
Surviving are a son William L. Cecil and wife Brenda of Jefferson; sisters Georgia Ridgeway and husband Gene of Lovettsville,VA, and Barbara Gletner of Lovettsville, VA a brother Leonard Frye of Stevensillve, MD, sister-in-law Barbara Frye of Lovettsville,and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by many longtime friends and care givers at Northampton Manor.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by sisters Elizabeth Frye, Margaret Jacobson, Esther Shafer and brothers Howard Frye and Stanley Frye.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Maple Ave., Brunswick on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 5 at 11 AM. Rev. Katie Bishop and Pastor Noni Sigler will officiate.
Interment will follow at Park Heights Cemetery.
