Mrs. Theda Louise (McFarlane) French, 93, passed away Monday, June 8th. 2009 at Homewood at Crumland Farms Frederick, MD.
Born April 6, 1916 in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late Harold McFarlane and Blanche McNeil McFarlane.
She was the wife of Arthur J. French Jr., who predeceased her in 2007, to whom she was married for 63 years.
Spending most of her life in the Detroit area, she worked as a professional realtor before retiring in 1980 and moving between Michigan, Florida, and New Jersey.
During her professional career she held many state and national positions in real estate professional organizations.
She and her husband enjoyed fishing, dancing, golfing, boating, and hunting.
She was active with her husband in many organizations, including the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Navy League, American Legion, Elks, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She and her husband moved to Frederick in 1999 to be close to family. She moved to Homewood in 2005, where she enjoyed the company of her many friends. In her spare time she enjoyed crafts, bingo, going to Charlestown, and playing Wii bowling.
She was preceded in death by her brother L.K. Mac McFarlane. She is survived by one son, CAPT Arthur J. French III, MD USPHS (Ret.) and daughter-in-law Paula of Frederick, Maryland, two grandsons, 1LT Andrew French USA of Schofield Barracks, Hawaii and A. Jonathan French, of Frederick, Maryland, nieces Babe Hilton of Charlevoix, Michigan, Judith Weir of Gilbert, Arizona, Darlene McFarlane of Mesa, Arizona, and nephew CDR Rusty McFarlane USN of Arlington, Virginia.

Services: Cremation has taken place and there will be a Memorial Service in the Slayman Chapel of Homewood at Crumland Farms with the Rev. Debra Huffman officiating on Monday, June 29th, 2009 at 7:00 p.m.
