Terence John Hopkinson, Sr., 68, of Chestnut Grove Road in Sharpsburg, Maryland, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at the Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Born on February 20, 1945, in London, England, he was the son of the late Daniel and Florence Elizabeth Hopkinson.
Terry was the Head of Security for 30 years at the British Embassy in Washington, DC. He also worked occasionally as a Master Barber at Rocco's Barber Shop in Hyattstown, Maryland.
He was member of the Pigeon Club in Hagerstown for many years, and will be fondly remembered for his love of all things outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid gardener and bird watcher. He spent that last few years of his life building a large bird aviary.
He is survived by his wife, Rochelle D. (Flohr) Hopkinson; three children, Terence J. Hopkinson, Jr. and partner Patrick Dowling of Ireland, Elizabeth "Liz" M. Hopkinson and husband Kevin Killian of Ijamsville, Maryland and James E. Morgan and wife Kelli of Sharpsburg; two sisters, Rita Myers and husband Richard of Stevensville, Maryland, and Mona Gilbert and partner George Dulaney of Greenville, Virginia; one brother, Daniel Hopkinson and partner Iris Jaffe of Frederick, Maryland; five grandchildren, TJ Hopkinson, Evan Morgan, Nic and Natalie Pinto, and Stevie Houser; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his faithful and loving canine companion, Boogie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Lewis.
A funeral ceremony celebrating Terry's life journey will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2013 at the Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland. Final resting place ceremonies will follow at the Samples Manor Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at the funeral home.
