Tedd Godbee

July 8, 1931 — January 21, 2014

Tedd Lee Godbee, of Frederick, Maryland passed away on January 21, 2014 at Kline Hospice House in Mt. Airy, Md., from a short battle with lung cancer. He was the loving husband of 60 years to Gloria Ann (Stull) Godbee.

Tedd was born July 8, 1931 in Frederick and was the son of the late Celeste Myers Godbee and John Alexander Godbee.

In Tedd's younger years he moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1937. He attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute. Tedd returned to Frederick in 1947 and was raised by his Aunt (Helen M. Stup) until he graduated from St John's Catholic High School. Tedd then entered the United States Air Force in 1951 where he attended the University of Wisconsin for a degree in Engineering. He served in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a member of the American Legion, FSK Post #11.

Tedd was a supervisor at American Optical for 25 years. Tedd and his brother-in-law, Cleon R. Stull Jr., started Delmak Corporation in 1981and retired in 1997.

Tedd had many accomplishments in his 82 years. Tedd and Gloria restored a 100-year-old house in Crisfield, MD and enjoyed the last 30 years spending many weeks and weekends in this house with his family. Most of all was his pride and joy, a 1929 Ford model A that he restored to its original condition and a 28-foot fishing boat that he built named Linganore Lady.

Tedd and his wife did extensive traveling. They visited the Caribbean several times, Australia, Spain, Alaska, China, South America and the Canary Islands to name a few.

In addition to his wife, Tedd is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Lea Godbee Hull and husband, John (Timmy) Hull, and Kim Ann Godbee Claggett and husband, Thomas W. Claggett IV; granddaughters, Ashley G. DeGrange and husband, Matthew DeGrange; Tyler F. Messina and husband, Nicholas; and Morgan A. Forsman and special friend, John Kelly; grandson, Thomas W. Claggett V.; great granddaughters. Adalyn LeaAnn DeGrange and Gianna Rose Messina; one sister, Chica G. Golibart, who resides in Cape Charles, VA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Patti G. Bauer.

Loving thoughts go to his brother-in-law, Cleon Stull, for being a partner and devoted friend.

Interment will be private.
