Ted Baranik

October 4, 1930 — February 7, 2013

Ted  Baranik 82, of Frederick, passed away on  February 7, 2013 at his home. He was the husband of Mary Alice Baranik.

He was born on October 4, 1930 in Windber, PA and was the son of the late Andrew and Mary Pochvatila Baranik.

Ted was a U. S Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He attended St. Francis University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Business and the University of Pittsburg where he received his Masters Degree in Health Administration. Ted worked as a Hospital Administrator for 30 years and then was County Commissioner for 12 years for Cambria County, PA. He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, Walkersville.

He is survived by his children, David Baranik and wife Mary of Wheeling, WV, Dennis Baranik and wife Karen of Plymouth, MI, Diane Hemmersbaugh and husband Paul of Potomac, MD., Donna Yocum and husband Stephen of Urbana, MD and Dureen Schliffka and husband Richard of Olney, MD. Grandchildren Nara,Lexi, Mela, Ryan, Chad, Sean, Lindsey, James, Grace, Abby, Hannah, Nathan and Brooke. . Brother Leo Baranik of Jerome PA. He is also survived by his 107 year old mother in law Lucille Severine of Windber, PA He was preceded in death by six of his siblings.

Visitation will be held at the Stauffer Funeral Homes P. A., 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick on Sunday, February 10, 2013 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00pm on Monday February 11, 2013 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville, MD 21793. Msgr. Richard Murphy will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
