Tammy Murphy

Tammy Jean Butts Murphy, 52, of Hagerstown, passed peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at Doey's House in Hagerstown. She is the loving wife of Jerome L. Murphy for over 33 years.

Born on April 2, 1967, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Gary W. Butts, Sr. and Rebecca Jean (Keller) Butts.

Tammy attended Middletown High School. She was the co-owner of Double T Cleaning for 18 years alongside her sister, Tina Hamrick. Tammy loved going to yard sales and bingo with her mom and sisters. Among other things, she was a pillar in her kids lives. Both she and her daughter, Rachel, were baptized together on Tuesday, May 28, 2019. Her humor was unlike any other and she was a very devoted mother and wife.

In addition to her mother and husband, Tammy is survived by her siblings, Gary Butts, Jr., Tina Hamrick and husband, Darron, Sr., Telisa Butt and Shannon Butts; her children, Kyle Murphy of Hagerstown, Rachel Murphy and her partner, Josh Wilt, of Boonsboro and stepson Jeremy Murphy of Thurmont; five grandchildren, Wyatt, Ayla, Tristan, Camden and Landon; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Clyde Wayne Butts.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Bast-Stauffer Funeral Home, 7606 Old National Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland.

A celebration of Tammy's life journey will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4th at the funeral home in Boonsboro. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Sharpsburg.
