Suzanne "Sue" Waterman
August 24, 1945 — August 20, 2016
Suzanne "Sue" Morders Waterman, 70, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 20, 2016 after a prolonged ilness.
Sue was born on August 24, 1945 in Washington, DC, where she grew up and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, as well as Washington School for Secretaries. She was the co-owner of Rock Creek Stables for several years before moving her horse business out to Montgomery and Frederick Counties in the early 1970's. Since 1976, Sue was a resident of Urbana, Maryland, where she was active in civic and community efforts for many years. Her professional career spanned the equestrian and office professional arenas.
Sue was well-known in local politics as well, always supporting important community causes. Her proudest achievements, however, were her two children and two grandchildren. She loved to read books and take care of her animals, and always had a bright smile and a positive thought for everyone who was near her.
Mrs. Waterman is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard Waterman, Jr. of Urbana; her daughter, Alexandra "Sandy" Waterman of Urbana; and her son, Richard Waterman, III of Middletown. She is also survived by her brother, Ralph "Buddy" Morders of Monrovia; additionally, two wonderful grandchildren, Grace Waterman and Kyle Waterman. Sue is also remembered by her lifelong friend, Susan Tippett of Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews; great-nieces; and many dear friends.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Gladys McLaughlin Morders and Ralph Morders; and her sister, Patricia Morders Armbruster.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on what would have been her 71st birthday, Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick.
