Susan Dowler Wengenroth, 73, of Brunswick, MD, passed away peacefully on July 27.
Born in Mansfield, Ohio on Nov. 4, 1949, she is the daughter of Blaine and Phyllis Bittikofer Dowler. She is a graduate of Charleston, WV, High School and attended Glenville State (WV) College. She was a longtime employee of the Jeanne Bussard Center.
Susie is survived by two sons: Jared Wengenroth and Max Wengenroth (and wife Erica Strahin), both of Brunswick, one daughter, Greta Adornetto (and husband Jonathan) of Plymouth, MI; and two sisters, Marsha Vogel (husband John Vogel) of Bel Air, MD, and April Dowler (husband John League) of Venice, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Wengenroth.
Susie was the proud “grammy” of 5 grandchildren, Juliette and Sebastian Adornetto, and Emilia, Piper and Nora Wengenroth.
She loved dogs, especially corgis and April’s dog, Cocoa. She was a very talented knitter; you could always count on a beautiful handmade blanket if you were having a baby. She was an avid collector of all things resembling turtles. She was the always the proudest and therefore the loudest one on the sidelines of every soccer games.
Most of all Susie enjoyed the simple things in life like trying on big hats, listening to oldies, watching the Ohio State Buckeyes and attending craft shows. She was devoted member of Jefferson United Church of Christ. She loved to laugh and was quite the jokester. She always looked forward to the sisters’ trip to Deep Creek lake.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1100 N Maple Ave, Brunswick, MD. Friends and family are welcome to stop by from 2:30-3:30 prior to the service for visitation.
