Susan Gabovitz
June 9, 1953 — October 27, 2011
Mrs. Susan Ann Chalker Gabovitz, 58 of Middletown, MD, passed to the hands of our Lord suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at home with her husband by her side. She was married to Richard A. Gabovitz for 10 wonderful years.
Born on June 9, 1953 in York, PA, she was the daughter of the late David and Arline Fitzgerald Chalker also of York. Susan was graduate of York High School class of 1971 and of Gettysburg School of Nursing. Her first assignment upon graduation was in the Intensive Care Unit for 15 years, then at Washington Hospital Center in the Cath Lab, assisting surgeons in heart surgery. After a lengthy illiness, she spent the balance of her life working for Dr. Sean Hunt at the Frederick Endoscopy Center in Frederick. Susan had a very special love of red roses and penguins.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Cory Brown and wife Erica, along with two handsome grandsons: Jeremy and Ryan all of Hickory, NC; a stepdaughter, Ashton Gabovitz and husband James Lee Schley, Jr, and grandson James Lee Schley, III all of Middletown; a brother Dr. David Chalker and wife Jane of York, PA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Susan will also be missed by her very close friend Rosemary Schmidt of Frederick and Susan Lazar of South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, November 1, at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD. Graveside services and interment will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 2, at Prospect Hill Cemetery, 700 N. George St., York, PA. those wishing to attend, please meet at the Pennsylvania Ave. entrance at 12:45 PM.
Since Susan had a special love for red roses, only they will be accepted at the funeral home or cemetery, if desired please make a special donation in Susan's name to the charity of one's choice.
