Mrs. Susan I. Curry, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, 50, of Emmitsburg, Maryland, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at her home. She was the wife of Kevin T. Curry originally of Wichita, KS.
Born November 3, 1963 in Canandaigua, New York, she was preceded in death by her father James Snyder, her mother Barbara Harris Collins, her step-father Jerrold Collins, her maternal grandparents Bill and Evelyn Harris, and her aunt Joan Harris.
Susan received her undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Northern Iowa, her graduate degree in Health Care Adm. from Central Michigan University.
She served her Country in the U.S. Army, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel in 2013. She served honorably with the US Army for over 27 years. Her awards and recognitions include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), a Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (6 awards), Army Achievement Medal (5 awards), Order of Military Medical Merit, and the Expert Field Medical Badge. She loved riding horses, traveling, riding her motorcycle, and the outdoors.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sisters, Joanne Snyder and Sharyl Aruck of Farmington, NY and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick Saturday, March 22, from 4:00 pm until time of service at 5:00 pm.
Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
