Sue Ann (Shingleton) King of Boonsboro, Maryland, slipped away from this earth and was called to Heaven on August 23, 2020. She was born February 24, 1941, to the late George Earl Shingleton and Elsie Mae Rollins Shingleton. She was also known as Mom, Grandma, Mimi, Mawmaw Sue and Mom Sue.
She was a Homemaker for many years, taking care of the needs of her beloved husband, Tom and ten daughters. She could make biscuits and gravy for an army, applesauce cake from scratch and was famous for her baked goodies. Her other hobbies included sewing, crocheting, making many wedding dresses, blankets and Raggedy-Ann dolls.
She worked as a day-care provider, an associate at National Geographic and was later employed by JC Penney.
Sue and Tom are active members of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, formerly Weverton Baptist Church. They have been members for over 45 years, assisting with their Food Bank, Vacation Bible School, and any other area where help was needed.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Thomas F. King of Boonsboro, MD; daughters, Robin Boone (Dan) of Frederick, MD; Terry Hamilton (Dale) of Boonsboro, MD; Tammy Mitchell (Bobby) of Columbus GA, Toni Scott (Terry) of Brunswick, MD; Teri Moffat of Boonsboro, MD; Tammy Holmes (Carroll) of Boonsboro, MD; Traci Snodderly (Chuck) of Hagerstown, MD; Jeannie King of Boonsboro, MD; Cindy Haigh of Mount Dora, FL; Kelly Klein (Walt) of Berlin, MD; 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and many “adopted” family members. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Joe Shingleton of Nitro, WV, and a large extended family. She was preceded in death by both parents, and her siblings, Augie, Laurence, George, Pauline, Lucille, Kathryn, Buddy, Bobby, Billy, Ginny, Doris, Dickie, and Wiley.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the viewing at Bas-Stauffer Funeral Home in Boonsboro, MD on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 6-8pm Funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Pleasant Valley Baptist. Friends will be received for viewing one hour prior at the church. Interment will be held at the Brownsville Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Due to Covid 19, please be willing to abide by guidelines set forth by Bast- Stauffer Funeral Home and Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.
