Steve Veech, 53, passed away unexpectedly June 29, 2023 in Gaithersburg, MD. Steve was born July 16, 1969 in Great Lakes, Illinois to Claire and Tonette Veech. He was the middle of three siblings and was raised in a Navy family.
Steve was a 1988 graduate of Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD. He worked as a Shop Assistant at Paintmaster’s Auto Body & Collision Center in Gaithersburg, MD for the last 24 years. Steve was a natural at figuring out how things worked and being a regular Jack Handy. Steve had a great disguise, a gruff exterior with an inside passion for classic and heavy metal rock music, drawing and art, Harley-Davidson motorcycles and custom trucks. Steve had great love for his children and those that he shared his life with. He welcomed and loved their children as his own. Steve’s friends were his extended family in his heart. He would do anything for his friends and lived to make them smile. “Once you’re a friend, always a friend”. He had a good heart.
Steve is survived by his three children; Tyler, Bre, and Kyle Veech of Frederick, MD, his younger sister; Hope Bruner and her husband Michael Bruner of Jefferson, MD, his father; Claire Veech of Gunnison, Colorado, his nieces Hayley and Kelce Veech of Texas, his aunt; Janet Evans and cousins Erica and Erin Evans of Virginia, and his aunt; Fern Penick and cousins Richard and Mark Penick of Minnesota along with their extended families.
He was preceded in death by his older brother Christopher Patrick Veech, his mother Tonette Louise Veech, his uncle Andrew “Moffat” Evans, his maternal grandparents Clifford and Carolie Erickson, his paternal grandfather Don Veech, and paternal grandparents Marjorie and Sid McKee.
Internment will be graveside services for the family at a future date in Farmville, VA, where his ashes will rest with his passed on family.
