Mr. Steven L. Brown, Sr. 74, of Frederick peacefully went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 surrounded by his loving wife and family following a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Barbara Brown for nearly 55 years.
Born September 12, 1942 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Iola A. and Gilbert S. Brown, Sr.
Mr. Brown retired from the federal government as a computer programmer. He was a member at South End Baptist church, where he enjoyed singing in the church choir. Mr. Brown loved spending time with his family, especially playing with his grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, the beach, going to auctions, working on cars and fixing anything that was broken.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Steven L. Brown, Jr. and wife Karen, Michelle Herbert and husband Dan, and Wesley Brown and wife Kimberly; eight grandchildren: Alyssa Robbin and husband David, Nicole Brown, Daniel Herbert Jr. and wife Theresa, Steven Brown III, Kelsey Brown, Makayla Herbert, Grace Uzat, and Kyle Brown; six great grandchildren, Layla, Aubrey, Damien, Ava, Olivia and Jaxon; siblings, Gilbert Brown Jr. and wife Mary Jo, Richard Brown and wife Joan, and Denise Schmidt and husband Don; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 5 at South End Baptist Church, 506 Carrollton Drive, Frederick.
Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. on Monday at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Rockville.
