Stephen Eugene Long

Mr. Stephen Eugene Long, 59 of Myersville passed away at his residence on February 4, 2009. He was the husband of the late Christine Elefson Long who died on July 5, 1997.

Born in Rockville, MD on January 31, 1950, he was the son of the late Margaret Virginia Pryor and William Joseph Long. A veteran of the US Army serving during the Viet Nam War, Stephen was United States Postal Carrier retiring in 2006.

Stephen was a member of the International Society of the 173rd Airborne Brigade, Sigholtz Capital Chapter. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending his spare time outdoors.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Christine Jones and husband Andrew of Smithsburg; a son Gregory Joseph Long of Frederick; his loving grandchildren, Logan and Allison Jones; two sisters, Mary Zentgraf and husband Bernie of Ocean Pines, MD and Reedy Porter and husband Jim of Berthoud, CO; a brother, William Joseph Long, II and wife Laurita of Thurmont; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 104 E. Main Street, Thurmont, MD from 12 noon until the time of service at 1:00 PM . Rev. Jeff Bowersock will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Frederick
